Would recoment this book. But once again, everything in this book besides Barton and Billy should have been left out. I admire this story for not pulling a single punch. You have to read this. Apparently a serial killer, he has done this before and makes his plans very carefully, having learned from past mistakes. So, once the scary stuff happened, the writer did a good job of not making everything be sunny and merry and all tied up.
Want to Read saving…. The last 2 chapters or so I felt let down as the ending was what I had expected in some way but there was this sense of disappointment as I was expecting something more intense that went along the flavor of the rest of the book. Send in the Clowns.

I am totally surprised that the book is a real thriller and pageturner. Apr 11, Liliana Blum rated it it was amazing. I’ve had this book for years and years and haven’t really wanted to read it but I finally pulled it out. Regardless of whether it was a little hard to believe at times, it was still a captivating read, and although this is not a genre that I usually pick up, I enjoyed the writing and its quick pace.
The boy had just been kidnapped and knew he would probably be sexually assaulted and maybe even murdered, yet this was his reaction when the kidnapper got him to his house. This page was last edited on 5 Octoberat Despite everything Billy was eager to see the mansion.

But one afternoon, Billy attracts whitleyy attention of Barton Royal, a man who has been searching the area where Billy lives for a young boy to take home with him.
Barton kidnaps Billy and the story is about that ordeal.
He loved big houses. I come to find out that it is, if anything, loosely based on John Wayne Gacy, and that it is in no way an accurate depiction of his gruesome crimes. Sure, we know that Barton manages to kidnap Billy — the book’s summary doesn’t hide this — but we don’t know how Barton manages it, or what will happen to Billy once the kidnapping takes place.
The Basics A psychopathic kidnapper by the name of Barton sets his sights on Billy. It takes a lot of skill to portray a character like that in a believable way, and I think Strieber did a great job of it. Terrifying, creepy and twisted!
Because it wants me to flinch first.
