Can I view this online? I’ve only read some of this guy’s stuff online, and once his short fiction appears in affordable versions i will snap it up. Well, it’s about a mentally-augmented private investigator looking for a missing woman. A must read for hard sci-fi lovers. Be prepared, much of his writing may leave you axiomatlco to get a pen and paper out to try and follow his writing just like you did back in physics class.
But I cut some slack for Egan, because hreg is not presenting a misunderstanding as fact, but openly and wildly speculating. Since there wasn’t time to get invested in the characters to any great degree, this turned out to be, for me, more of a thought experiment rather than a novel.

Some favorites in the collection: Unless you’re the type to disdain lecture-y segments and scientific meanderings of physical properties, you’ll probably enjoy what this novel has to offer. There are a lot of other ‘what makes the self the self’ concepts to The pace of Quarantine was such that I burned through it in no time.
The second is the level of detailing the author manages to bring out in the roughly 15 pages of the story. I think Descartes would have loved this story.
