Second Contact

Thanks for telling us about the problem. How to write a great review. It is definitely a book I have not had any problem putting down to do something else at times. I do not know when I will read it again; I think this was my second or third time reading it. Turrtledove continuation of Turtledove’s Worldwar series is even better than its predecessors! Worth a look for fans of the original – just. Add to basket failed.

Second Contact (Colonization, Book One) by Harry Turtledove | : Books

I do find that Turtledove tends to repeat information in his books to often, its not like his readers can’t remember information from one book to another! Atlantis and Other Places. Xecond book tends to be a bit repetitious at times, but the fascinating scenario kept my interest throughout. The specter of a Germany and France that have been under the Nazis’ thumb for two decades is also deeply unpleasant. As the fleet enters Earth orbit, an unknown human power unleashes a nuclear attack that kills millions.

Turtledove picks up the continuing story using many of the characters that survived the arrival of the aliens and introducing new characters. Fascinating plot, marred by plodding and repetitive execution. If half of them are truly female, and each female lays two eggs after becoming pregnant per ‘season’ [which would probably be twice a Tosevite year] [and there are ‘only’ one hundred fifty million female colonists out of three hundred million colonists], then that means six hundred million ‘native born’ Lizards per Tosevite calendar year!

The plot was slow and there was no closure of anything at the end. Aecond the start of the novel, the colonization fleet of the Race enters the Solar Systembringing with them eighty to one hundred million colonists for settling on Earth.

Hurtledove have a feeling I’ve read this book before, but I’m not sure. This is one my better ebook finds; the aliens are well-developed, many of the humans are interesting, thoughtful characters though some feel stereotypicaland the plot the uneasy co-existence of the two Raceswhile it moves slowly, is intriguing.

The first volume in the four-book series picking up where the WorldWar series left off. Return to Book Page.

Prepared for a quick lop-sided battle, they were flummoxed by the advanced weaponry of the humans. Works by Harry Turtledove. The Race also becomes aware of subtle support of these resistance movements by Germany, the United States, and the USSR, but as the Race are unable to prove it nothing can be done to stop them.

Second Contact (Colonization, #1) by Harry Turtledove

I’m not sure if it’s that Turtledove becomes a better writer with each book he writes or the story has just had a chance to really fold out and stretch it’s I went into this not sure what to expect. Please help improve this article by adding cojtact to reliable sources.

I will leave it as three stars. It sports pages, it could have been under a decent editor. We already know how evil they were, and it was covered extensively in the first book. Kind of reminds me of how the Germanic people were held accountable hatry the actions of a few people after WWII. Ratings and Reviews 0 0 star ratings 0 reviews.

Enjoyed if somewhat long winded.

A cold war is in play. The Guns of the South Hail!

D Dopo la serie Invasione inizia una nuova serie: Meanwhile, the Race colonists, who expected to encounter an Earth that was already conquered with the natives still at medieval levels of advancement, have to deal with the consequences of the cold war with the humans.
